🛍️ Juliet’s Black Friday Edit — What I’m Shopping For This Year
Black Friday is here again, and this year I’m focusing on pieces that genuinely improve life at home — not just add to the chaos! At the top of my list? Beautiful, good-quality bedding. We spend so much of our lives in bed, and right now… our quilt is an old hand-me-down from Mum and our mattress protector has actual holes in it. So it is well and truly time.
I’m very conscious of creating a healthy home, so I’ll be hunting for brands that are low-tox, sustainable, and Oeko-Tex 100 certified (meaning no harmful chemicals). Think high-quality bedding from places like Adairs, Sheridan, or Bed Threads — beautiful textures, timeless colours, and kinder on our bodies and the planet.
I’m also on the lookout for new crockery. I want pieces that feel special but still work for everyday family life. I’ll be browsing brands such as Robert Gordon, Country Road Home, and In The Roundhouse for durable, stylish plates and bowls that elevate the table without being too precious.
And lastly… if you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know this about me already:
I am a cushion addict. Charlie is not. Which means the (admittedly excessive) number of cushions on our bed need a spot to live at night — other than the floor.
So I’ve decided to invest in a beautiful upholstered bench seat for the end of the bed. It’ll double as discreet cushion storage and a practical place to sit when putting on shoes. With any luck, it won’t become the dreaded dumping ground for clothes that “almost” made it back into the wardrobe…For that i’ll be looking to Temple & Webster and Style My Home.Â
Here’s to thoughtful shopping, creating healthier homes, and finding pieces that make everyday life feel a little more beautiful. ✨
🏡 Want Gardening Products? Charlie's Top Three Things To Look Out For In The Sales
1.   A good quality galvanised watering can is a must for any gardener. Don’t waste your time with plastic in Australia, the sun just eats them, and they end up as landfill. Metal watering cans look good and are robust so great for mixing fertilisers, wetting agents and worm casting tea. Make sure the rose is also metal, usually galvanised or brass and a large, curved handle will also make it easier to use on pots of all sizes and locations.
2.    Can you really call yourself a gardener if you don’t have a pair of secateurs? Cheap secateurs will tear the plant when you use them and that increases surface area open to possible pest and disease infection so invest in a good a pair. By-pass secateurs are the best for green living wood, anvil secateurs should only be used on dead wood as they have a crushing action. Keep your secateurs clean and sharp and they will look after your plants for years to come.
3.    In the sales look out for a fork and spade combo deal and invest in good quality. Garden tools go through a lot of hard work and get left out in the elements so buying cheap is a false economy.  The shovel is the work horse of the garden, digging planting holes, shaping lawn edges and filling buckets, so make sure you buy a size that feels comfortable to use - a lot! Garden forks are a great way to mix compost and other additives to the soil without destroying the structure of the soil making it healthier which in turn will grow more resilient plants.
